This picture shows the newly tiled floor of the Ann Hay Vocational Centre’s veranda. The tiling has also been installed inside the centre building. Most of the furniture for the Vocational Centre has been donated by a Slough Sikh charity.
The building is for the Post 16 women to learn sewing and other fabric skills as well as to make scented soap, which will eventually be sold from a market stall proposed for the open area near the Library and Vocational Centre. This new enterprise will help to develop their marketing skills.
At present the women are learning their sewing skills on hand and treadle machines, but the future plan is also to have electric machines, once solar panels are in place.
Ann Hay is a stalwart supporter of the Kori project and was instrumental in producing our first washable/reusable sanitary towel.
