How the money we raised was used.
For a school to be registered in Sierra Leone, allowing qualified teachers to be paid a nominal salary, there has to be a bore hole and Latrines on site for pupils and staff to have access to clean, safe water
With your kind donations, we have been able to build toilets for both sexes at the Bob Simson Secondary school in Bai Largo . The pictures below show the newly painted toilets, ready for use.
We also raised sufficient funds to construct a bore hole, providing clean, safe water at the Bob Simson school. The picture shows our charities founder, Rose, enjoying the fresh water on a recent visit.
How is the Bob Simson school building work progressing?
Progress on the school has continued despite the worldwide pandemic, country lockdowns and the rising cost of building materials. We are pleased to say that both the internal and external walls have been plastered and awaiting painting once the rainy season finishes in October. The floors will also be tiled at the same time. School furniture is in the process of being acquired.
The views below show the newly plastered external walls of the school
Donation of Solar Radio for use at Bob Simson school
The government of Sierra Leone broadcasts many educational programmes using radio. To enable the pupils at the Bob Simson school to access these learning programmes, a solar radio has been donated for use at the school. As the more rural areas of the country have little access to mains electricity, the use of solar radios will be invaluable. The picture below shows Rose giving the Solar radio to the future head of the Bob Simson school.
